house committee
A parliamentary team scrutinizing a dossier claiming that the International Criminal Court is investigating President Kibaki will start hearings on Monday. The Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations will hear from Director of the National Security Intelligence Services (NSIS) Michael Gichangi, Commissioner of Police Mathew Iteere and CID director Ndegwa Muhoro. The team is also expected to meet MPs Charles Kilonzo and Aden Duale who tabled the document in Parliament. Mr Kilonzo is also a member of the same committee. The security chiefs’ meeting with the MPs will centre on the authenticity of the documents. The British High Commission in Nairobi and the NSIS have said the documents are not authentic. The committee is scheduled to hear from Foreign Affairs minister Moses Wetang’ula, who, on March 13, told the committee that NSIS had “urged caution” regarding the document.
