Seriously, now that the Senate has passed a proposal will the House Committee even look at it?

That depends on the GOP. Their House proposal had no new revenue, so the Senate passed one that does, with some cuts to get the negotiations started. Will the House negotiate or simply dig in their heels?

There is a chance. This is how the system was designed to work, but for it to work both sides must be prepared to compromise.

  1. Pragmatism Please says:

Both budgets need to go into reconciliation but they are pretty far apart and the tea party freak show is keeping rational Republicans from negotiating. I’d say chances are slim. Ideologues tend to not govern well and they tend to get us into wars. Nobody reads history books any more.
