The Independent Electoral And Boundaries Commission has so far cleared four candidates nominated by their parties or coalitions run for president. NaRC-Kenya’s Martha Karua being the first to present her nomination papers before the IEBC at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre. Others who got the nod from the electoral body to vie in the March 4 general election include: James Ole Kiyiapi of Restore And Build Kenya, Eagle Coalition flag bearer Peter Kenneth and Musalia Mudavadi of Amani Coalition. The presidential aspirants were expected to submit their national identity cards, copies of academic credentials, plus an affidavit affirming their allegiance to the Republic Of Kenya. They also handed over membership certificates from their respective parties, nomination certificates from the parties to participate in the elections, and signed wealth declaration forms. Their running mates accompanied all presidential hopefuls. Candidates for positions of governor, senator and county women’s representative will seek IEBC’s clearance to run for the seats at their respective counties, while parliamentary aspirants and county assembly representatives will present their nominations in their constituencies.

    “All things being equal” if elections are held today in Kenya I don’t think Martha Karua, Peter Kenneth, Olekiapia or Mudavadi would win as Kenyan president. The only win these candidates are going to win for life is respect and it is probably the best win you can get on earth anyway.
