My questions today that were only related to main stream media stories and other innocuous questions were denied the right of free speech here. I know this site is out of communist China, but does that mean Americans no longer have free speech?

First – the right of free speech is universal, it’s not only american. Iknow it’s hard to believe, but human and civil rights are global. Oh yes…there is the rest of the world.

Second – the rules and guides on this or any other site are not denying you the right of free speech. Your right of free speech ends, where another person’s right begins. That means that whenever it would offend someone objecitvely (when he is offended by a reason), you most likely shouldn’t say it. So you most likey was doing some trolling.

Third – buy a geography book and study please. It will help you in the long run.

This site has the right to do whatever they want, you signed up and agreed to the terms. The responsibility is on you. If you don’t like it, don’t use it. If you want more of a forum, then find one of those

You are free as long as you are not harming someone else.

You have a general right to free speech and not an absolute one. Think of it like the right to freedom of movement. It doesn’t mean you have the right to move into my room with me. Private websites have the right to set standards to create the particular type of atmosphere they think appeals most to whomever their target audience is. If they wish to keep porn off the site, is that a violation of freedom of expression?

They can’t however stop you from saying what you like in public spaces. See the recent decision in the Westboro Church protests.

Whenever assholes make a statement that is either completely biased, offensive or slanderous they pull out that over-used "freedom of speech," card like it’s a free pass to say whatever the hell they want to.

I have no idea what your question was but it was pulled down for a reason.
Communities don’t have rules and restrictions to take away your rights, but to maintain the rights of others and to keep the masses under control.
And you try running a website in an organized fashion when you have people putting things where they shouldn’t be, or creating a riot by posting something upsetting.

Freedom of speech is a bullshit excuse for being ignorant.

Private site with Rules and Guidelines. There is NO Free Speech. Suggest you read the community guidelines and take the quiz.

Yahoo is a private business and as such can make their own rules. As an American your right to "free Speech" has nothing to do with it. It’s their way or the highway. All it takes is 2 "trusted" members to report you and the bots remove it. You may find it beneficial to familiarize yourself with community guidelines and terms of service. When there is no moderation message boards can quickly deteriorate to boards full of profanity, bad taste, insults, harassment and other less than pleasant behaviour.

The ‘right of free speech’ applies only in public sites. Answers is actually a PRIVATE site that Yahoo is allowing us to use if we agree to certain rules and terms. Our only ‘freedom’ in this situation is to comply or to leave.
